Excellent article! And, thank you for providing a way to respond that doesn’t become target practice for naysayers.

As a former employee of the Clinton County Sheriffs Office, this entire situation grieves me. For over 17 years, I was the receptionist under Sheriff’s Underwood, Hensley, Mitchell, and Ward. At no time did we endure stress of this magnitude caused by their decisions/actions. Those who are daily doing their best to carry out the responsibilities of their position deal with enough problems. I am truly concerned for them.

You made no mention of inappropriate conduct alleged against Matt Myers. Thank you. His family has suffered enough.

I appreciate you stating that good has been done. My mom would say, “There’s bad in the best of us and good in the worst of us.” This situation may initiate changes in laws governing sheriffs offices. That would be a good thing. In time, there will be less talk, but the damage caused will remain a part of this county’s history.

Gratefully submitted,
Kay Morrison
