Elsie Ann (Barry) Lewis of Frankfort, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. She was 99 years young, was loved by many, and her influence will remain in the lives of all who knew her.

She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Charles Fredrick and Elsie McCullough Barry on June 25, 1925. She graduated from Denison University in 1947 and was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity. She was introduced to her beloved husband Perry Warner Lewis by his sister, Anne, Elsie Ann’s college suite mate. In 1948 Elsie Ann and Perry were wed, they shared nearly 63 years of marriage. Together they raised their 3 children and enjoyed watching their grandchildren grow. She was devoted to her family and made wonderful memories all preserved in scrapbooks of pictures, newspaper clippings, and mementos. Elsie Ann was an avid reader and enjoyed bridge, golf, travel and winters with Perry at Bonita Beach, Florida.

Elsie Ann found great joy in the friendships she built through her commitment to several organizations. She was a devoted Christian and active member of the Frankfort First Christian Church and Church Women United. She was also very involved in the following community groups: Aftermath Club, the Literary Club, Friends of the Frankfort Library, Frankfort Garden Club, Tri Kappa Sorority, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Association and the Indianapolis Museum of Art Auxiliary.

Elsie Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Perry, brother Charles, and sister Barbara, son Perry William (Bill) and daughter Nancy Jane (infant). She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Lewis Dunlap (Husband Allen) of Dillon, CO and Susan B. Woods (Husband John) of Indianapolis; 5 Grandchildren, Andrew James Dunlap (Rebecca), Jack Woods (Liz fiancé), Kate Woods, Perry C. Lewis and Abigail Lewis; great granddaughter, Amara Roze Dunlap; Extended Family, Chris (Ed) Niehaus and Gretchen Sheets.

The family extends deep gratitude to Jo D., Lori, Sandy, Sara, Jane, Mindy, Marsha, Jo T. who lovingly cared for Elsie Ann, and her nurses Laura, Angie, Carrie, Cindy, Regina, and Lauren. We are very grateful to the staff at Wesley Manor of Frankfort and Paradigm Health Hospice who provided such excellent care.

A Celebration of Elsie Ann’s Life will be held at 3:30 pm on Friday, April 11, 2025 at the Wesley Manor Amanda Reid Chapel, 1555 N. Main St., Frankfort, IN.

A private family burial was held at Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Perry William (Bill) Lewis Scholarship Fund care of Clinton County Community Foundation, 215 West Sycamore Street, Kokomo IN 46901, Frankfort Community Public Library, 208 W Clinton, Frankfort, IN 46041, or charity of the donor’s choice.
