Enrique Leon, Sr.

Enrique Leon, Sr., 60, of Frankfort, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at IU Health Frankfort Hospital.  He was born in Zacapu, Michoacan, Mexico on October 2, 1960 to Enrique Leon and Amalea Leon Rangel.  He married Maria Blanca Leon Piedras in San Martin Texmelucan Puebla, Mexico; she survives.

Enrique had resided in Mexico and California before moving to Frankfort in 2006.  He was a self-taught sewing machine technician and instructor. He had a passion for teaching and sharing his skills with others. He was very innovative and “street smart” and could find a solution to any problem. He also owned a local bar where he enjoyed sharing drinks with and hanging out with his friends.

Enrique was a man you could always count on to help others. He loved his family, and they will fondly remember spending time together on Sunday nights, which was their traditional family movie night. With a beautiful smile, a great sense of humor, a love for music, and a way to make people laugh, he enjoyed life to the fullest.

Enrique is survived by his mother, Amalea Leon Rangel; his wife, Maria Blanca Leon Piedras; sons, Enrique Leon, Jr. and Leonardo Leon; daughters, Cinthya Zepeda (Hevert Zepeda) and Maira Shambow (Danny Shambow); brothers, Alejandro Leon, Jorge Leon, Joaquin Leon, and Humberto Leon; sisters, Laura Alcocer and Sonia Telles; and eight grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father, Enrique Leon.
