Fair Council Chairman Says Things Are Progressing Well

The Clinton County Fair Council is moving right along on its goal to be ready for the Clinton County & 4-H Fair which is set for July 7-15 at the Clinton County Fairgrounds.

“We are a lot farther along this year than we were a year ago,” said Fair Council Chairman Jamie Blacker. “Of course, we had a lot of things on our plate a year ago. We have a lot of projects started out there. But the weather has not allowed us to do what we need to do.”

Blacker said two of the project areas are the infield as well as Clinton Hall and the 4-H Building.

“We have an infield project we’re trying to wrap up… to get some grass seed sewn in the next few weeks,” said Blacker. “Once that projects gets completed, we should have a lot of our water problems pretty well taken care of and we’ll start to see some of the progress we’re looking for.

“We made a lot more parking around Clinton Hall and the 4-H Building by knocking down the old bathrooms, but that’s not quite finished yet,” continued Blacker. “We’re working on finishing up that parking lot. That’ll be done (before the fair starts). We took out some bathrooms back in the old Show Arena. We’ve got to finish up a few projects. Between now and the first of July, it’s going to take a lot of elbow grease at the fair to make it ready.”
