May 15, 2025 at approximately 3:30 p.m. Indiana State Police Dispatchers began receiving 911 calls about a female attempting to wave down traffic on I-465 northbound near the 17 mile marker. Troopers later gathered this female had her car stolen from her by a man who she knows, the man was allegedly armed with a handgun. Further information revealed the male allegedly fired at least one shot at her before driving away in her car.
Troopers located the stolen vehicle at approximately 5:30 p.m. on I-70 near Plainfield. When troopers attempted to pull the vehicle over the driver fled, leading a vehicle pursuit for approximately two miles. The driver eventually pulled over on the collector ramp from I-70 eastbound to I-465 on the west side of Indianapolis. The man inside the vehicle ignored all police communication. The Indiana State Police SWAT Team responded to the scene to assist. Utilizing technology to clear the vehicle it was determined there was no movement inside. Subsequently, troopers discovered the man was unresponsive and had injures consistent with a self inflicted gunshot wound. Troopers could see a handgun on the center console of the vehicle. No officers discharged their weapons in this incident. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Marion County Coroner, ISP CSI and ISP Detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. The ramp from I-70 eastbound to I-465 is currently closed.
There is no further information to release at this time and is under investigation.
