FHS Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country Teams Qualify for Regionals

The Frankfort boys’ cross country team qualified for regionals for the third year in a row on Saturday.

Head coach Tim Galati said they had a great race with all top 5 runners running new PRs or season bests to upset McCutcheon by one point for third place, which was our best finish at sectionals since 2013.  State-ranked Harrison and West Lafayette finished first and second while Lafayette Jeff took the final qualifying spot in fifth.

Hugo Hernandez got fourth place overall running the eighth fastest 5k in school history with a 16:23.  Josue Bautista Ventura finished 17th with a 17:19, Cristian Asensio-Mora was 23rd 17:34, Bryan Longoria-Rocha was 24th 17:37, Daniel Pritchett 25th 17:38.

The girls cross country team had their best team performance of the year at sectionals, finishing fourth place overall to earn their first regional berth since 2013.  They were led by Carina Alanis in 24th with a 21:46.  The rest of the top 5 included Ane Ochoa De Alda getting 25th with the 14th fastest 5k in school history 22:03, Christina Espidio getting 26th with the 15th fastest time in school history 22:04, Payton Dubree getting 33rd tying for the 19th fast 5k in school history 22:35, and Madyson Cook getting 40th with a new PR of 23:15.

Clinton Prairie Volleyball
Clinton Prairie went 1-3 in the Clinton Prairie Invite Saturday in Jefferson. The Gophers defeated North White 21-25, 25-9, 15-8 and lost to Manchester 25-17, 26-24; Cloverdale 25-22, 25-14 and Greencastle 25-15, 18-25, 15-13. Clinton Prairie is now 12-18 on the year.
