The Frankfort High School boys’ cross country team qualified for semi-state for the second year in a row with a fourth-place finish in the regional held Saturday at Benton Central High School in Oxford.
The Hot Dogs took fourth with 127 points, which 17 points ahead of fifth-place Lafayette Jefferson. Harrison took the team title followed by West Lafayette and McCutcheon.
Rossville sophomore Preston Padgett also qualified for semi-state by placing eighth in a time of 16:37.0.
On the girls’ side, Frankfort’s Carina Alanis qualified as an individual for semi-state by finishing 30th. The girls did not qualify as a team as they placed eighth. Alanis is the first FHS girl to make it to semi-state since 2013.
Semi-state will be held next Saturday at New Prairie. The top 10 individuals from non-advancing teams and the first six qualifying teams shall advance to the state finals.
