The Frankfort High School boys’ cross country fell short of qualifying for the state meet by finishing 18th in the New Prairie Semi-State meet on Saturday.
The top finisher for the Hot Dogs was Hugo Hernandez, who placed 59th. Other FHS finishers included Michael Corro (108th), Josue Bautista Ventura (138th), Cristian Asensio-Mora (142nd), Kevin Espinoza (151st), Bryan Longoria-Rocha (172nd) and Brian Pratt (175th).
“The boys team had a great season and were able to meet our final goal of getting to the semi-state meet,” said head coach Tim Galati. “We didn’t quite have our best race today, but it was a good experience being in this race environment that we can learn from and will help us prepare for next season in which we will look for a state meet berth.”
The previous Saturday, the boys advanced to their first semi-state appearance since 2013 by finishing fourth in the Harrison Regional meet in Lafayette. Hernandez was the top runner for FHS with a nine-place finish in 16:47.
