FHS Boys’ Soccer Blanks Crawfordsville for Hot Dog Invite Title

Alex Beltran scored the only goal of the game in the second half to lead Frankfort to a 1-0 victory over Crawfordsville in the championship game of the Hot Dog Invitational Saturday in Frankfort.

The victory improved the Hot Dogs to 2-1 on the season ahead of Tuesday’s road contest against Harrison.

Frankfort began one-day tournament by defeating Caston 4-0. Sophomore Yobani Trenado Alanis scored twice for FHS, while senior Daniel Mejia Cervantes and sophomore Christian Mejia added a goal each. Senior Leonardo Majia, junior Rudolfo Garcia-Cruz and freshman Michael Cardenas each had an assist.

Game two saw Crawfordsville blank Rossville 4-0.

Caston then faced Rossville in the consolation contest with Caston coming out on top 3-1.

FHS Volleyball Goes 1-3 at Kokomo Invite

Frankfort began the day by defeating Kokomo, but struggled later falling to Warsaw, Jennings County and Maconaquah. The team struggled playing without their leading blocker Allyson Timmons against three much taller teams.

For the tournament, Lindsay Gay had 48 assists and 11 kills, Ashley Timmons had 23 kills and Chloe Roberts added 20 kills. Tarah Martinez added 22 digs, while Bella Colby had four blocks. Morgan Adamson added eight kills, while Maicee Sterrett and Kylie Norman each had 18 dogs. Sydney Whitaker came in and served for the team and was 100 percent behind the line.

FHS is now 2-3 ahead of Sagamore Conference matchup at home Tuesday night against North Montgomery.

Boys’ Tennis Downs Benton Central

The doubles team of Carter Wilson and Elijah West got their first win in their varsity careers to help lead the Hot Dogs to a 3-2 triumph over Benton Central in Oxford on Saturday.

DOUBLES: Jesus Garcia/Luke Hodge (F) def. Nick Fry/Kolton Goodman 6-4, 7-5; Elijah West/Carter Wilson (F) def. Alex Brown/Cyrus Barce 6-0, 4-6, 7-5.
