FHS Cross Country Teams Fare Well in Sagamore Conference Meet at Danville

The Frankfort High School boys’ cross country team took third and the FHS girls’ cross country team finished fourth in the Sagamore Conference meet Saturday at Danville.

The boys wound up with 65 points, seven points behind Lebanon, which was second, and 17 points behind Danville, which won the meet. In the girls’ meet, FHS finished with 93 points. Western Boone won the title with 39 points.

Boys’ Results

Team Winner — Danville 48 (Frankfort was third at 65).

Individual Winner — Alec Means (Danville) 16:36.6.

Girls’ Results

Team Winner — Western Boone 39 (Frankfort was fourth at 93).

Individual Winner — Audrey Knoper (Western Boone) 18:42.4.

FHS Volleyball

Frankfort competed in the VolleyKnight Invitational in Southwood. In pool play, Frankfort tied for first by defeating Fort Wayne Northrop and Goshen and losing to Huntington North. In cross pool play, Frankfort lost to Kokomo in two games.

Stats for the day were Morgan Adamson (53 assists, 19 kills), Maicee Sterett (22 kills, 38 digs), Bella Colby (23 kills, 10 blocks), Tarah Martinez (25 digs, 7 aces), Mercedez Toney (25 digs), Sydni Whitaker (3 aces, 14 digs), Eryka Pillion (19 digs, 4 aces), Amber Houchen (3 blocks, 5 kills), Erika Stephenson (3 kills) and Emma Pillion (3 digs, 2 kills).

Thursday night in Michigantown, Frankfort rallied from a nine-point deficit in the fifth and deciding game to down Clinton Central.

Down 11-2 in the fifth game, Whitaker ended the game and led the team on an eight0point run to make it 12-9. Down 14-12, Sterrett served out the victory for the Hot Dogs.

Sterrett led in kills with 17 and Colby followed with 11. Adamson had a big match with 30 assists and eight kills. Toney added 13 digs and two aces, Houchen finished with eight blocks and three kills, Martinez had 16 digs and eight kills and Whitaker finished with 18 digs and three aces.

Boys’ Soccer Win Sectional Opener

Sophomore Gael Hernandez scored three times and goalie Alex Campos recorded the shutout as Frankfort blanked Southmont 7-0 Monday night in the opening round of sectional play Monday night in Crawfordsville.

Leading 2-0 at intermission, the Hot Dogs scored five times in the second half to put the game away. Jose Balderas, Ethan Hudspith, Marcos Bautista and Miguel Gabriel had goals for FHS.
