FHS Girls’ Soccer Downs Crawfordsville in Conference Opener

On Wednesday night the Lady Hot Dogs traveled to Crawfordsville to open Sagamore Conference play. The Dogs got off to fast start unlike the first game of the season when Senior Carolyne Morales scored an unassisted goal 7 minutes into the game. The Dogs had a few close misses but finally found the back of the net again when Junior Liz Cruz Sandoval dribbled through the defense found some space and scored her first goal of the night. It didn’t take long for Liz to score her second goal it happened two minutes later making the score 3-0 with 12 minutes to play in the half.

The Athenians got a goal back before halftime on a great set piece that went just under the crossbar making the halftime score 3-1 Hot Dogs. The Athenians managed to get another goal back about 20 minutes into the second half. However, Cruz Sandoval found another hole a few minutes later to get her third goal of the night extending the Hot Dog lead back to two goals. The Lady Hot Dogs finished the scoring in the night with about five minutes left in the game when Cruz Sandoval scored her fourth goal of the night.

The win makes the Lady Hot Dogs’ record 1-0-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference. Next up for the ladies is the Hot Dog Invite on Saturday with the first game at 9 a.m. against county rival Rossville.

In JV action the Lady Dogs earned their first win of the season as well winning 2-0 with goals by Jasmine Longoria & Mia Hernandez.
