Maria Alanis scored a pair of goals as the Frankfort girls’ soccer team rallied for a 3-3 tie in their season opener against Logansport Wednesday night. The match had been postponed from the night before due to weather.
After falling behind 2-0 in the first half, Frankfort got on the board as Alanis took a quick restart, moved through the Logansport defense and took a shot that was partially deflected by had enough on it for a goal to make it 2-1.
Logansport took a 3-1 lead 15 minutes into the second half before the Lady Dogs took full advantage of a handball inside the goalie box. Junior Liz Cruz converted the penalty kick to make it 3-2 with 12 minutes remaining.
Five minutes later, Alanis got a great cross from Ari Regalado and scored her second goal of the match to tie it with seven minutes remaining.
Jessie Ramos recorded three saves for FHS.
FHS Boys’ Soccer Drop Opener
The Frankfort boys’ soccer team opened its season on the road in Logansport Wednesday with a 7-0 loss to the Berries.
Next up for the Hot Dogs is a Sagamore Conference matchup at home against Western Boone.
The junior varsity opened its season with a 1-1 tie against Logansport. Frankfort’s lone goal came in the second half by freshman Israel Santillan.
