Fire at Los Amigos Restaurant Ruled Accidental

Frankfort Firefighters were dispatched to a building fire at 1400 McKinley Ave around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday morning and found heavy smoke surrounding Los Amigos restaurant. Firefighters immediately began fire suppression activities. Battalion 1 called for a second alarm and extra firefighters were called in to provide coverage for the rest of the city. Firefighters were able to contain the fire quickly and begin overhaul.

The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported by fire personnel. Fire investigator Dustin Phillips investigated the blaze and ruled the fire accidental. The fire was the result of trapped grease in the restaurant hood system.

The investigation on the March 6 barn fire has also been completed. Fire investigators have determined the cause of the barn fire was electrical and ruled the fire accidental. The barn fire started near the chicken coop and resulted in the loss of two horses and several chickens.
