Fire Investigator Rules Deadly House Fire Accidental

Following a thorough investigation by Frankfort Fire Investigators, the cause of Monday’s fatal fire at 1308 West Jefferson Street has been ruled accidental. Lead investigator Jeremy Ward commented on the ruling saying, “The fire originated in a first-floor bedroom and was likely caused by a portable space heater.”

 

The December 2 fire destroyed the home at 1308 West Jefferson Street and resulted the death of one child. The infant’s official cause of death has not yet been released, pending a final report by the Clinton County Coroner’s Office.

The father and two other children were able to escape the blaze. The eight-month-old infant was found dead inside.
