First Three Graduate from Sheriff’s Adult Ed Program

Elizabeth Alber stands with the first three graduates of the Clinton County Sheriff’s Adult Education program. The grads are Lee Long, Lyle Youngs III and Randy Chester.

On Monday, Clinton County Sheriff Rich Kelly announced the first three graduates of the Clinton County Jail’s Adult Education Program.  The Sheriff’s Office took over the program internally at the start of 2020 with Jail Clerk, Elizabeth Alber, taking on the role of Adult Education Coordinator.  Sheriff Kelly stated, “We have tasked Mrs. Alber with instructing the Adult Education program and she took ownership, without hesitation.  She has exceeded any expectations we had for the program.  I am extremely thankful and proud to have people like Elizabeth Alber on our team.  With her efforts, we will always succeed at the Sheriff’s Office.”

Inmates are responsible to fund their education.  The inmates were given the opportunity to write an essay to Adult Learners Inc. for scholarship opportunities to fund their TASC test, widely known as the GED.  The Lafayette Adult Resource Academy (LARA) provided support to Mrs. Alber as she built our program.  LARA also provides a proctor for the TASC test, as we cannot use our own instructor.  Those who passed the TASC test were given a graduation keepsake tassel from the Sheriff’s Office.

Congratulations to our first “2020” Graduates:

Lee Long

Lyle Youngs III

Randy Chester

We look forward to many more graduates from the program.  Congratulations to Mrs. Alber for her dedication and hard work to the program!  We wish each of these men much success!!!  Sheriff Kelly stated, “I am extremely proud of the work and the effort these men put forth in the program, knowing that this will benefit their families and themselves in the future.  It builds confidence and character and gives them the opportunity to compete in today’s workforce.”
