Five individuals will be vying for the vacant Clinton County Commissioner seat that was held by Scott Shoemaker at a Republican Party caucus in the Neighborhood Center at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The five are Jameson Blacker, Jordan Brewer, George (Skip) Evans, Jr., Michael Jay Thompson and Lowell Brian Wimborough. The County Clerk will be notified of the selection on Monday, July 27, and the new commissioner will take office on Friday, July 31.
The first meeting for the new commissioner will be Monday, August 3.
The winner will join Josh Uitts and Steve Woods on the three-person commission. Woods will be a commissioner until the end of the year when Mark Timmons will officially take Woods’ seat. Timmons defeated Woods in the primary election.
Shoemaker resigned his position to focus solely on being the Frankfort Police Chief.
