The community has been invited to flex their creativity and spread holiday cheer this year through the Flora Depot Railroad and Local History Museum Wreath Decorating Contest.
This year’s theme is to create a wreath that captures the magic of the season, including Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or other celebration in the latter winter months. Any materials may be utilized, such as ornaments, ribbons and other materials that represent the holiday spirit. The wreath must be 20 to 24 inches in width prior to decorating.
The contest will be open to all ages and skill levels, and participants may enter as an individual or a team with their friends and family.
“Let’s make this holiday season extra special by sharing our creativity and spreading joy,” the organizers released. “Gather your wreath-making supplies, let your imagination run wild and be part of our Wreath Decorating Contest.”
Public voting will be conducted by dropping money into the canister associated with the wreath, and voting will begin Saturday, Nov. 30 and any day following that the Depot is open.
The winning wreath will receive bragging rights as well as a Depot Brick with the winner’s choice of engraving. All proceeds raised through the voting will benefit The Flora Depot.
Wreaths must be submitted to Flowers and Friends by Monday, Nov. 25. For more information, contact Stephanie or Theresa at Flowers and Friends at 574-967-3022.
