Four County Schools Draft Policy to Help Reopen Schools

All Clinton County Schools met with the Clinton County Health Department Friday morning at the Community Schools of Frankfort Administration Building to discuss their reopening plans for the next school year.

All Clinton County Schools will be starting their new school year on their scheduled date. Clinton Central and Rossville will begin on Wednesday, August 5, Community Schools of Frankfort will start Thursday, August 6, and Clinton Prairie starts on Tuesday, August 11.

The four County Schools will also do the following:

  • Require staff and students to have a face covering with them at all times. There will be certain situations, including on a bus and some in-school settings, when wearing a face covering will be required for both students and staff.
  • Require students and staff to be fever free for 72 hours without the use of fever deducing medication before returning to school.
  • Maximize instructional space and scheduling flexibility.
  • Use enhanced cleaning procedures.
  • Adjust lunches to maximize available open space and utilize alternate scheduling to adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Allow students to bring their own water bottle to school.
  • Use separate spaces in and near school clinic to treat symptomatic students.
  • Discontinue perfect attendance incentives.
  • Restrict visitors and guests in our school buildings.

In conjunction with the Clinton County Health Department, Clinton County public schools will have a common response to confirmed cases of COVID-19, and ongoing consultation will inform the decisions regarding keeping schools open.

NOTE: TO read the full reopening plans for each school corporation, go to the schools’ websites where they will be located by mid-July.

Thank you for supporting your Clinton County public schools as we look forward to a safe reopening for the 2020-2021 school year.

It should also be noted that this is a draft and that changes will happen.
