Frankfort Basketball Season Ends in Sectional Semifinals

The basketball season came to an end for Frankfort in the sectional semifinals at Greencastle in a 49-46 loss to North Montgomery.

The Hot Dogs, which finished 7-17, trailed 28-15 at halftime before mounting a second half comeback. They outscored the Chargers 19-10 in the third period to cut the deficit to 38-34 entering the fourth quarter. The team had several really good looks near the end of the game that wouldn’t fall.

Jade Ayers and Braden Compton led FHS in scoring with 10 points each. Trey Frazier finished with nine, Riley Goodnight had seven, Cameron Williams six and Arod Valdes Sandoval 4.

“The team showed tremendous improvement throughout the season, more than doubled last season’s win total, and won their first sectional game in four years,” said FHS head coach Nate VanDuyne. “The three seniors of Braden Compton, Cameron Williams and Trey Frazier will be greatly missed for their leadership, on-court performance and work ethic.”

North Montgomery was beaten by Danville 59-47 in Saturday night’s sectional championship.

Track and Field

The FHS track team had two individuals compete in the West Lafayette Individuals Meet at Purdue University on Friday. Hugo Hernandez placed third out of 36 competitors in the 3200 with a time of 10:21, and Michael Corro finished 19th overall.

The entire track team will compete in the SAC Indoor Meet Friday at Wabash College beginning at 5:30 p.m.
