Avery Drew and Makayla Harper combined on a five-hit shutout to lead Frankfort to a 5-0 girls’ softball victory over Rossville on Monday.
Drew and Chloe Roberts led the offense with two hits each. Karim Quinones and Morgan Dean each had one hit. Drew led with five stolen bases and Karleigh Bessler added three steals.
Drew went five innings, allowed five hits and fanned five. Harper went the final two innings, didn’t allow a hit and fanned four.
On April 17, Frankfort fell to Lebanon 6-5. Quinones, Drew and Roberts each had two hits apiece for FHS.
On April 13, Frankfort took third in the Clinton Prairie Invitational. Frankfort defeated Tri-County 14-2 in the opener, then lost to Clay City 6-5 in extra innings and defeated Clinton Prairie 12-11 in the final game of the day.
Quinones went 5 for 5 against Tri-County, including a home run, Drew was 4 for 5 and Sydni Whitaker went 3 for 5. In the Clay City contest, Katie Roberts went 3 for 4 at the plate. Against Prairie, Kylie Norman went 4 for 6, while Drew, Kimee Kingma and Roberts all went 3 for 6.
In baseball, Frankfort lost 3-1 to third-ranked Crawfordsville on Saturday. Christian Lopez pitched well in the loss and Jose Valdes Sandoval led the offense with an RBI double.
On April 18, FHS lost to Lebanon 4-3. Lopez was 2 for 2 at the plate and Sandoval pitched three scoreless innings.
On April 16, the Hot Dogs defeated Lebanon 16-3 in five innings. Lopez led the way with four hits, and Roger Angeles added three hits and two RBIs.
In boys’ golf, Frankfort defeated Lafayette Jefferson 185-188 on April 17. Sascha Pirch took medalist honors with a 42.
On April 16, Frankfort lost to Kokomo 165-191. Pirch led Frankfort with a 40. Kokomo’s Brandon Hansen took medalist honors with a 36.
