The Frankfort High School boys’ track team won a triangular against North Montgomery and Tri-West Tuesday, while the FHS girls’ team took second in their meet at FHS.
The boys scored 67 points to outlast North Montgomery, who was second with 58, and Tri-West, who finished with 39. In the girls’ meet, North Montgomery won the event with 76 points. Frankfort was second at 56 and Tri-West third with 19.
First-place finishers for the Hot Dogs in the boys’ meet included the 4×800 relay team of Ivan Salazar, Marco Reyes, Josue Bautista Ventura and Angel Perez, Perez won the 1,600, Ventura took the 3,200, Kyle Earl won the shot put and discus, Logann Wills took the long jump and the 4×400 relay team of Michael Hernandez-Cuatecatl, Salazar, Jacob Craig and Mauro Lopez-Carrillo.
On the girls’ side, winners for FHS included Mia Hernandez in the 100 hurdles, Carina Alanis in the 1,600 and 3,200, Alexis Reed-Gill in the 300 hurdles, Josseline Valdez won the shot put and 4,100 relay team of Rabecka Sheets, Lorena Perez, Jalyn Vessels and Peyton Myers were also victorius.
The boys are 3-0 against Sangamore Conference foes, while the girls are 1-2.
Last Thursday night in Lafayette, Frankfort lost to Harrison 101-31 in the boys’ meet and 115-16 in the girls.
Winners for Frankfort included Angel Perez (1,600), Lopez-Carrillo (400), Ventura (3,200) and Wills (high jump) for the boys while Alanis won the 3,200 for the girls.
FHS Defeats Lebanon in Softball
The Lady Hot Dogs defeated Lebanon 11-9 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game. With the game tied at nine in the bottom of the sixth, Makayla Harper hit a solo homer to give Frankfort the lead for good. She was also the winning pitcher as she surrendered 17 hits and nine runs over seven innings, striking out six.
Zoey Westerman hit a pair of three-run homers for FHS and Karim Quinones hit a two-run shot. Sydni Whitaker had two hits for Frankfort.
FHS Baseball Splits Pair
Frankfort lost to Rossville Friday by a score of 5-1. Jose Lopez pitched well, going five innings and allowing one run. Conner Boone led the offense with a pair of hits.
The Dogs bounced back on Saturday to defeat Clinton Prairie 11-5. Damian Lopez earned the win on the mound throwing five innings and allowing two runs. Brayan Valdez led the offense with two hits and three RBIs.
FHS Golfers Down WEBO
Frankfort won a close match against Western Boone 198-200 Tuesday afternoon at the Frankfort Commons. FHS was led by match medalist Reece Mitchell with a 43. Other scores for FHS included Ramsey Mitchell 50, Dakota Bailey 52 and Trevor Meeks 53.
FHS Girls’ Tennis
Frankfort girls’ tennis lost 5-0 to Western Tuesday in Russiaville. FHS lost 5-0 at home to Twin Lakes on Monday. Frankfort opened the season with a 4-1 victory over Rossville last Friday.
Winners for FHS included Karley Santos and Raelyn Mitchell in singles play. On the doubles side, the team of Libby Pierce and Maria Angeles was victorious as was the team of Odalis Campos-Vasques and Jocelyn Seward.
Clinton Central Golf Team Wins Invitational
Clinton Central captured the Clinton Central Invitational on Saturday. The Bulldogs finished at 402 to win by eight strokes over Avon. Fountain Central was third at 416.
Central’s Mike Harness took medalist honors with a 92. Kyle Pickard was sixth at 98 and Logan Whiteman ninth at 99.
Clinton Prairie, which finished fifth in the meet, was led by Logan McDonald, who placed seventh at 98 and Wes Whitlock was eighth at 99.
Central Softball Now 5-2
Clinton Central improved to 5-2 Monday with a 22-1 victory over North Montgomery. On Saturday, Central downed Frontier 12-1 as sophomore Keeleigh Click got her first pitching victory.
