Frankfort Captures Championship in Lady Hot Dogs Invite

Frankfort won its first Lady Hot Dogs Invitational soccer title since 2012 with a 4-2 victory over Tri-Central in the championship Saturday in Frankfort.

Nataly Cruz had two goals and an assist for FHS, now 4-1. Mia Hernandez added a goal and Elizabeth Valdez Lopez scored her first career goal. Ari Regalado added a pair of assists for Frankfort.

In the tourney opener, Frankfort got four goals and an assist from Liz Cruz Sandoval while Regalado and Meli Alanis each scored twice as the :Lady Dogs blanked Rossville 13-0.

Cruz added a goal for Frankfort. Kenya Garcia, Jazmine Longoria, Stephanie Aguilar and Karina Mora Santos each scored their first career goal for FHS, which posted their second shutout of the season and it was the highest goal total Frankfort has scored in a game since 2017.

Cruz and Aguilar each had an assist for the Lady Dogs. Jessie Ramos had three saves in the first match for FHS, while Vannessa Guardado had seven saves in the championship contest.

Cross Country Teams Fare Well at Danville

The Frankfort boys’ cross country team placed fifth out of 14 complete teams and the girls’ placed seventh at the Danville 5K meet on Saturday.

Out of the Sagamore Conference teams, the boys defeated Danville, Tri-West and Western Boone and fell to Lebanon making them 4-1 versus SAC foes this year. The girls fell to Lebanon and Western Boone but defeated Danville and Tri-West making them 3-2 against SAC teams.

Also, Carina Alanis lowered her third fastest time in school history to 20:12.

Boys’ Result

Team Winner — Southport 67 (Frankfort was fifth with 149).

Individual Winner — Paul Stamm (Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter) 15:58.37.

Team Winner — Edgewood 52 (Frankfort was seventh with 181).

Individual Winner — Annalyssa Cain (Edgewood) 18:54.47.

Boys’ Soccer Blanks North Montgomery

Frankfort moved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the Sagamore Conference with a 10-0 road victory over North Montgomery on Thursday.

The Hot Dogs tallied six goals in the opening half, two from Gael Hernandez. Felipe Tovar, Yobani Trenando-Alanis, Israel Santillian and Damian Lopez all scored in the first half. In the second half, Cristian Asensio-Mora scores twice, while Avi Hernandez and Uziel Matis each scored a goal.

Freshman goalie Alex Flores recorded the shutout for the Hot Dogs.

Frankfort Volleyball Downs Delphi

Frankfort defeated Delphi 3-1 on Thursday evening. Allyson Timmons had a career night with 10 kills and four blocks. Lindsey Gay had a season high 28 assists and six kills. Morgan Adamson, Tarah Martinez, Bella Colby and Maicee Stirrett each recorded five mills. Sydni Whitaker added 16 digs and Mercedez Toney was 11 for 11 in serving.

The junior varsity fell 2-0 to Delphi. Ella Pillion had four kills, four aces and five assists. Eryka Pillion added six digs and an ace, Amber Houchen had five kills and Jazzy Oppelt had four assists and four digs.

FHS Girls’ Golf

Frankfort competed in the Ulen Invitational on Saturday. Sydney Cesare led the way with an 85. Emilee Shipley followed with a 102 and Raelyn Mitchell finished with a 116.

On Thursday, FHS took on West Lafayette and Harrison. Cesare took medalist honors with a 39. Shipley and Mitchell each carded 53s.
