Frankfort Community Honors The Life Of Retired Officer Cesare

The community has bound together to celebrate the life of Mike Cesare, a retired officer of the Frankfort Police Department, who unexpectedly passed away.

Cesare joined the the Frankfort Police Department on March 6, 1994, where he served until his retirement on Oct. 3, 2022. Cesare was an Indiana State Trooper before joining the Frankfort Police Department team, and he continued his career of impacting the community positively by teaching various classes at Frankfort High School following his retirement from the force.

“Our department is standing beside his family during these rough days ahead,” The Frankfort Police Department posted. “We ask that the community show them how much we all love them.”

Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets released a statement regarding Cesare’s service and commitment to Frankfort through his nearly 30 years of service at the Frankfort Police Department. Sheets encouraged the community to pray for his family, Becky, Camden and Sydney, along with his friends, family and the Frankfort Police Department who held him close.

“Mike will be missed,” Sheets wrote. “What a tremendous loss for our community. I worked with Mike for several years at the police department. Mike was a great officer and friend. He was a kind and caring person who genuinely cared about others. Mike would always greet me with a hug and would ask about my family and me with a big smile.”

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office also released a statement regarding Cesare and his dedication to law enforcement and maintaining the safety of the community in Frankfort, Clinton County and across Indiana.

“Sheriff (Rich) Kelly worked with Officer Cesare a short time on the Indiana State Police before he made his way to the Frankfort Police Department,” the Sheriff’s Office released. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Becky, and children, Camden and Sydney, during this incredibly difficult time. Although we worked many years on the road with Mike, he found his niche within the Community Schools of Frankfort. His infectious smile always was a bright spot in the halls of the schools.”

The Clinton County Chamber of Commerce continued the sentiments, highlighting the immense impact that Cesare had on the Clinton County community.

“Our hearts are broken to hear about the unexpected loss of Retired Officer Mike Cesare,” the Chamber posted. “Mike had made such a huge impact in our community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to this wife, Becky, and children, Camden and Sydney, during this most difficult time. If you knew Mike, you knew how much he loved his family, friends, students and residents in this community.”

Services are currently pending at Goodwin Funeral Home.
