Frankfort Downs North Montgomery for First Win of Season

The Frankfort High School girls’ volleyball team won its first contest of the season by defeating North Montgomery 3-0 on Tuesday night.

Leading in kills was Allyson Timmons with eight, while Morgan Adamson and Maicee Sterrett each had six. Bella Colby added five kills and two blocks, and Lindsey Gay had 22 assists and three kills. Mercedez Toney had a big night serving with three aces, scoring on 15 points and she added 17 digs. Adamson and Sterrett each had three aces. Tarah Martinez went 12 for 12 in serving and also had four digs. Sydni Whitaker added three aces and two digs and Eryka Pillion had two digs.

The junior varsity lost their first match of the season to North Montgomery 2-0. Emma Pillion had eight kills and two aces, Eryka Pillion had 13 digs and Emily Hurless had six digs with three aces.

Frankfort Cross Country

The boys and girls cross country team both placed fourth out of eight teams at the Harrison 8-Way Meet Tuesday in Lafayette. Both teams are now 1-0 against Sagamore Conference teams after finishing ahead of Southmont.

The top boy finishers were Angel Perez and Daniel Pritchett finishing in tandem at 16 and 17th place. The top girl finisher was Carina Alanis wit a third-place finish and set another new PR and lowering herself to the third best time in school history with a time of 22:06. Every single boy and girl runner ran a new season best time despite the 90-degree heat.

Team Winner — West Lafayette 37 (Frankfort was fourth with 114).

Individual Winner — Leo Ramirez (Harrison) 16:35.

Frankfort Boys’ Soccer

The Hot Dogs fell to 3-2 on the season following a 3-2 loss against Western Tuesday night in Russiaville.

Frankfort scored a goal in each half. The first half score came with Yobi Trenando connected with Damian Lopez, while Uzi Matias scored in the second half on an assist from Felipe Tovar.

The junior varsity defeated Western 6-0. Gael Hernandez scored a hat trick in the first half. In the second half, Gabriel Garcia-Bautista scored twice and Hunter Shirar tallied once.

FHS Girls’ Soccer Tops Eastern

Frankfort built a 3-0 lead at halftime and held on for a 5-2 victory over Eastern Monday night in Frankfort.

FHS had first-half goals from Mia Hernandez, Nataly Cruz and Ari Regalado. Hernandez scored her second goal early in the second half before Eastern cut the deficit to 4-2. Meli Alanis rounded out the scoring in the contest.

Frankfort is now 1-1 on the season.
