Clinton County has experienced excessive rain and flooding conditions in the past several days. While other parts of Indiana have experienced more serious flooding problems, this volume of excessive water, years ago, would have pushed the Frankfort East Side drainage to the limit, resulting in serious flooding and possible property damage.
Kaspar media on Saturday afternoon toured some key spots in Frankfort to see how the Eastside Drainage System was holding up.
Videos below show that the system is managing the water well as of Saturday afternoon, August 15, 2026. Some of the worst flooding on record used to come in late winter when the ground was frozen and could not absorb much water coupled with rain and snow melt runoff. Years ago, without proper retention, the rapid speed of the flow would turn parts of the east side of Frankfort into a “lake” including the Frankfort High School parking lot.
