Frankfort Fire Wins Badge Battle in Barnburner

The Frankfort Fire Department came out strong at Case Arena Friday evening against the Frankfort Police Department in the first few baskets,  but after a good start there was no question the Frankfort Police quintet dominated the entire game…except for the very end.

The 81-78 game was a real barn burner decided by free throws and some key three point shots that propelled the Frankfort Fire Department to a lead at the very end of the game.

Frankfort Fire Wins Badge Battle

About 250 spectators paid 5.00 each to watch the Battle of the Badges at Case Arena Friday night.  The proceeds will benefit Special Olympics and Boys and Girls Club and no doubt the game now provides bragging rights for a whole year of ribbing between Frankfort’s Finest Police and Fire Departments.

Frankfort Police Department was probably considered the favored team this year with at least a three game-three year winning streak in their favor.  It looked like the Police Department was going to pull it off again with some 10 or 12 point leads during the second half.

In the end, though, the Frankfort Fire Department walked away with the ginormous trophy to brag about until the Battle Lines are drawn next spring.

There was no “a** kicking” this time, as some predicted.  :>)

We’ll see what happens next year.
