Frankfort Firefighters Respond to Barn Fire

Frankfort Firefighters were dispatched to a fully involved barn fire in the 2300 block of East Kelly Road around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning. Upon arrival, firefighters found the barn fully engulfed in flames with fire and smoke visible on all sides and through the roof. Homeowners reported the presence of animals in the barn.

According to Battalion Chief Jamie Michael, “Firefighters had the fire under control by 2:45 a.m. with no injuries. Unfortunately, we were unable to rescue the animals from the fully engulfed barn.”

Firefighters continued to work the scene for six hours hitting hot spots to ensure the fire would not reignite. Eight off duty firefighters were called in to provide coverage for the rest of the city. Two mutual aid 3,000 gallon tankers were supplied by Station 7 and Station 6.

The fire is still under investigation at this time.
