The City of Frankfort summer events kick off tomorrow, May 9 as they prepare to carry into the weekend and throughout the summer.
The City of Frankfort announced a collection of free concerts and different events for 2024 with intentions to provide local entertainment for community members of all ages to enjoy. All of the summer events are free and open to the public.
The summer events will kick off tomorrow, Thursday, May 9 as the Frankfort Parks Department presents the first Downtown TuneNight of the season at Prairie Creek Park beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Grace Scott Band will take the stage at Prairie Creek Park to entertain the community on The Farmers Bank Performance Center Stage at 260 E. Washington St. in Frankfort. Frankfort Parks Superintendent Joel Tatum commented about the kickoff event and the summer events coming to the parks across Frankfort this year.
“Summer promises to be an exciting season filled with an array of activities, including concerts, movies, festivals and a bike race,” Tatum said. “With options catering to all ages and interests, we eagerly anticipate seeing our community come together to enjoy an abundance of wonderful amenities our City has to offer. It’s shaping up to be a memorable season of fun and entertainment for all.”
Community Development Director for the City of Frankfort Kimberly Black has been a driving force in the success of the summer series over the past few years as Downtown TuneNight and the summer concert series have become a staple within the community with options for all community members to enjoy while also focusing on community and economic development by supporting the local businesses in the downtown area.
“The Frankfort Parks and the City of Frankfort work hard to provide great amenities for Frankfort,” Black said. We’re excited for the Summer Concert Series, the Downtown TuneNights and the multitude of other community events in Frankfort. It’s a fantastic way to enjoy the outdoors, connect with neighbors and experience the vibrancy of our community. Enjoy downtown events and shop in our local businesses. There’s something for everyone.”
In addition to the scheduled events, the Frankfort Parks Department will be offering multiple season amenities throughout the summer, including the Prairie Creek Park Splash Pad, which is expected to be accessible to the community in a timely manner after issues caused a delayed opening last year, the TPA Park Aviary and Petting Zoo and Sapphire Bay at TPA Park. The amenities are scheduled to open Memorial Day weekend spanning from May 25 through May 27, and the amenities are expected to remain accessible for the community until Labor Day weekend in the fall.
