Frankfort Splits Four Matches at VolleyKnight Invite

The Frankfort volleyball team made the last drive to Southwood High School on Saturday to compete in the VolleyKnight Invite.

The girls started the day facing tough competition and dropping two matches to Goshen and Fort Wayne Northrup. They rallied, though, and ended the day strong with wins over Marion and Huntington North. This brings their record to 12-10 heading into the last week of conference play.

Stats for the day: Lindsey Gay 42 assists and 17 kills; Allyson Timmons nine kills, four blocks and two aces; Tarah Martinez 12 kills, six aces and 18 digs; Morgan Adamson 13 kills and 18 digs; Bella Colby 10 kills and four blocks; Sydni Whitaker 32 digs, five kills and six aces; and Mercedez Toney 33 digs and four aces.

Football Falls to Danville

The Hot Dogs had an outstanding effort Friday night against a very good Danville team. After getting off to a rough start giving up three short field possession that all led to touchdowns, FHS settled down and started making plays. The Hot Dogs also scored the most points that Danville had allowed all year.

Riley Goodnight had 44 yards rushing and one touchdown. Sam Michael added 74 yards in passing and a touchdown pass to Kyle Earl to close the out game.

Defense was led by Reece Mitchell with 10 tackles. Bryce McDonald and Jade Ayers both had interceptions and Mitchell recovered a fumble on a punt. For the season, the Hot Dogs has created 16 turnover, with eight interceptions and eight fumble recoveries.

FHS Boys’ Soccer Season Ends

Frankfort faced Danville in the second game of Sectional 25 on Tuesday night. After Yobi Trenando gave the Hot Dogs a 1-0 lead, Danville scored the final three goals for a 3-1 victory.

Frankfort finishes the season at 6-10-1 and 3-4 in the Sagamore, which put them fifth in the conference.

Girls’ Cross Country

Clinton Central finished fourth in the Hoosier Heartland Conference meet on Saturday.

Team Winner — Carroll 18 (Clinton Central was fourth at 115).
