The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame announced the inductees for the 2025 class, among them was Frankfort graduate Wilbur Cummins.
Cummins was a 1925 graduate of Frankfort High School. He helped the Hot Dogs secure the 1925 State Championship, averaging 16.2 points per game.
Cummins went on to play at Purdue University for coach Ward “Piggy” Lambert. He was awarded all-Big Ten honors in 1927 when he averaged 10.3 points across 12 conference games. Cummins was named team captain for the Boilermakers for 1928-29.
After graduating from Purdue, Cummins began his coaching career. He spent time with Brook, Elwood, Mooresville and Gas City before returning to his alma mater to coach from 1947-52. At Frankfort, Cummins led his team to sectional championships in 1949, 1950 and 1952 including a regional championship in 1949.
Inductees will be honored at a ceremony in March of 2025.
