The Friends of the Frankfort Library are proud to present their 37th Annual Fine Art Exhibition & Sale happening this weekend, Nov. 10–12, 2017 at the Frankfort Community Public Library. The Friends, the Art Show Committee, and library staff have been diligently preparing for this year’s show.
Reflections is this year’s chosen theme, and printmaking is our featured medium. Brenda Buckingham-Ehrmann and daughter Lauren Ehrmann are our featured artists. Brenda is a collaborative artist specializing in bringing people together to make and exhibit art. Her degree includes a concentration in both painting and ceramics, but she has been a printmaker for the past fifteen years. Lauren is a 2016 graduate of Frankfort H. S., and currently attends IU Bloomington where she is majoring in Art History and Arabic. She plans to specialize in Islamic Art & Architecture and hopes to one day become a museum curator. Brenda and Lauren will demonstrate their printmaking skills on Saturday of the Art Show from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Anna & Harlan Hubbard Gallery.
Here is a video produced by Erick Dircks from last year’s show.
Printmaking is one of the many mediums we will showcase at the Art Show. Photography, painting, mixed media, sculpture, woodworking, jewelry, ceramics, glasswork, weaving, and fiber artwork will also be available for purchase. We are excited to have 80 participating local and regional artists in this year’s show, including Denny Wainscott, Patrick Flaherty, Mark Burkett, Anna Roberts, Marianne Glick, Sharon Owens, James Hubbard, and our very own Frankfort Garden Club. A full list of participating artists, as well as a detailed schedule, can be found on our website: www.myfcpl.org/friends-art-show.
This year, opening night of the Art Show is exclusively for Art Show Patrons, and the show will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday. Support the arts; become an Art Show Patron and pledge to spend $60 or more at the show. Please contact Mindy Emswiller for more information, [email protected] (765) 654-8746. Art Show Patrons will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, musical performances by local musicians including Russ Kaspar, Frankfort String Quartet, and Hunter Wainscott, live painting by artist Jed Dorsey, and intriguing artwork. When you make a purchase at the Art Show you are supporting local and regional artists and the library. A portion of each sale goes to the Friends of the Library and may be tax deductible. The Friends in turn sponsor a wide array of arts and children’s programming at the library including Clinton County Youth Theatre and the annual Concert Series.
This year local youth will be involved in the Art Show. Their artwork (printmaking and acrylics) will be on display outside of the Children’s department and will be available for purchase. We are excited to give young artists an opportunity to learn about being a working artist.
Thank you for your support of the library and the Annual Art Show. We hope to see you in November! For further information, please contact Susie Blackmore, [email protected] (765) 654-8746.
