Frankfort Library Announces Summer Reading Program

Summer Reading is June 15-July 31 at the Frankfort Community Public Library and branches in Michigantown, Mulberry, and Rossville.  This year’s theme is “Imagine Your Story” and will kick off on June 15 at noon with an Online Magic Show featuring Dan the Magician, created especially for the residents of Clinton County!  This show will be available to view June 15-19 on our Facebook page, Facebook.com/myfcpl. Dan will also teach six magic lessons throughout the summer.

This year, the library is introducing virtual programing paired with “Take-It, Make-It, Share-It Kits.” Each packet or “kit” will include all of the supplies needed to create various crafts, STEAM, and story time projects developed specifically for different age groups. We encourage you to pick up your kit at the library (Take-It), put it together (Make-It), and then “Share-It” by snapping a picture and posting to social media. Tag the library (@myfpcl) in your post so we can see your creations!  Each kit will coincide with educational and entertaining Virtual programs which will be posted on the Library’s YouTube channel and Facebook throughout the summer. Registration is required to receive kits. Descriptions and registration will be available beginning June 1 on the library’s calendar at www.myfcpl.org. If you require assistance registering for a Virtual Program/Take-It, Make-It, Share-It kit you may also call the library at (765)654-8746. Kits will be available for pick up at the library by June 15. The Take-It, Make-It, Share-It kits are made possible in part by a grant from the Ransom Family Advised Endowment Fund and the Clinton County Community Foundation.

Another feature for the 2020 Summer Reading Program is a new online reading tracker. Register online at myfcpl.org/read.  Participants will be able to record the books they read, note participation in virtual programing, and complete other fun activities like an FCPL website Scavenger Hunt or Read to a Pet. With each completed activity, users will be eligible to earn online badges and entered into Summer Reading prize drawings which will occur throughout the Summer.  For those without internet, paper trackers are available upon request. Prizes will consist of gift cards to local Clinton County businesses and the grand prize will be a brand new tablet!  Be sure to check the library’s website and Facebook page for additional information:  www.myfcpl.org, Facebook.com/myfcpl.
