Frankfort Library Presents Ostler Slideshow on Saturday

Stop by Harry’s Coffee Bar at the Frankfort Community Public Library on Saturday, February 8 anytime from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to see Ostler slides that have been digitized as a part of the Clinton County:  Fun in the ʼ50s project.  The focus for the third year of this project has been digitizing slides that James Ostler took at school activities and class reunions.  Harry’s will be open for business, so you can warm up with a chai or coffee, eat a snack, and enjoy the slideshow.  Also, let us know if you can identify anyone in the slides.

This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Indiana State Library.

Newspapers.com

TThe Frankfort Community Public Library (FCPL) is offering a class entitled Newspapers.com 101 on Saturday, February 29 at 9:30 a.m. in the Lower Level Meeting Room. Newspapers provide a unique view of the past and can help researchers understand the people, events, and attitudes of an earlier time.  FCPL offers its patrons access to 14,700+ historical newspapers from around the world through its subscription to the Library Edition of Newspapers.com’s World Collection.

Jill Garrison, FCPL’s Genealogy Coordinator, will show participants how they can use the library’s Newspapers.com subscription to help them with their genealogical and historical research.  She will also cover how patrons can access the database remotely using their library cards.  The cost of the class is $2.00, and registration is required.  To register, call 765-654-8746, visit myfcpl.org/calendar, or stop by the library.
