Frankfort Man Enters Not Guilty Plea in House Fire

A Frankfort man entered a not guilty plea Thursday in Clinton Circuit Court for his role in an arson fire at 903 Delphi Avenue.

David E. McKechnie, 35, of Frankfort, was charged with one count of Arson, a Level 4 Felony, This comes after his admission to Frankfort Police and Fire officials that he started the fire on Delphi Avenue early Wednesday morning. Frankfort firefighters responded to the report of a fully involved structure fire at approximately 2:45 a.m. Wednesday.

When units arrived, everyone was out of the structure with flames and smoke visible. Firefighters worked the scene for over three hours with no firefighter injuries reported.

Frankfort Fire Department Investigator and Battalion Chief Jeff Cline responded to the scene at the request of the officer in charge, Captain Josh Uitts, to conduct a fire scene examination. Cline ruled the fire was arson.

A trial date of May 28 was set for McKechnie in Clinton Circuit Court.
