As part of the Police Department’s ongoing communications, Police Chief Troy Bacon released 2019 statistics showing officers responded to and provided 11,604 police services last year, a decrease of 572 from 2018.
Geographically, the northwest area of the city had the highest number of calls and services provided with 3,416 total calls. The area with the fewest calls and services provided was in the southwest portion of the community with 1,960 calls.
According to the department’s Uniform Crime Report statistics, in 2019, there was a 9% decrease in overall reported crimes in the city when compared with 2018. There was a 13% decrease in burglary and an 18% decrease in larceny-theft.
According to Chief Troy Bacon, “Hard work by officers and a collaborative effort with the community is definitely paying off. Over the last eight years, there has been a noticeable downward trend in reported crime in the city of Frankfort. There is still a lot of work to be done, especially combating the drug problem. However, I could not be more pleased with the progress we are making.”
Overall, adult drug violation arrests remained statistically unmoved when compared with 2018. In 2019, there were 207 persons arrested for drug-related offenses and 79 arrests for DUI’s. The department conducted 4,415 traffic stops and issued 805 traffic and city ordinance warnings and 659 tickets in 2019.
The Frankfort Police Department Code Enforcement Division responded to and handled 1,614 city ordinance problems. They issued 1,299 warnings and 563 tickets for city ordinance violations in 2019.
