The Frankfort Police Department continued its annual tradition of escorting PepsiCo’s “Rolling Remembrance” trailer through the community in remembrance and honor of veterans.
The “Rolling Remembrance” trailer holds significant meaning for numerous families across the region as Fallen Patriots vows itself to providing resources to veterans and their families throughout the years since its inception.
The organization reported that approximately 25,000 children have lost an active-duty parent in the military over the past 35 years with 97% of the casualties being men. The organization continued to report that around 60% of the families affected by the tragedy are struggling to make ends meet with 53% of surviving spouses making less than $50,000 per year. The vision of the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, which is promoted on the side of the “Rolling Remembrance” trailer is to ensure that every child affected by this tragedy receives all necessary college funding to make the best life for themselves possible.
The “Rolling Remembrance” trailer and police escorts act as a means for the organization to raise awareness of its efforts since it was started by PepsiCo in 2015. The trailer’s trek spans a 14,000-mile long relay of an American Flag from Seattle to New York to ebenfit the foundation. The flag was reportedly on a UH-60M Blackhawk Helicopter on a combat mission in support of the United States and Coalition ground forces in the Kandahar Province of Afganistan during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2012.
Frankfort is just one of the many stops that the flag will make during its journey across the United States.
“The weather was perfect,” the Frankfort Police Department released. “The truck came to Frankfort from Plainfield and is on its way to Lima, Ohio. The memorial travels from Seattle, Washington to New York during the month of May.”
