Frankfort has been ranked Indiana’s eighth safest city of 2019 by SafeWise. This ranking is based on information from the FBI Uniform Crime Report statistics along with SafeWise population data and internal research.
According to Chief Troy Bacon, “It’s an honor to be designated as one of Indiana’s safest cities. All credit goes to the hard working dedicated men and women of the Frankfort Police Department and the passion they have for ensuring a safe community. While it is impossible to prevent all crime, the strong partnerships and communication we have developed with the community has made a noticeable difference.”
Mayor Chris McBarnes stated, “Frankfort Police Officers are among the finest defenders in Indiana and such a designation proves this to be true. We have implemented a community policing model which leverages public involvement to fight crime intelligently. I praise our outstanding community members who play a pivotal role in the fight against crime. Frankfort is becoming a safer community for all. This designation should be celebrated but we must not and shall not become complacent.”
The City of Frankfort has appeared on the SafeWise safest city list in the past, most recently in 2018, when the city was ranked the 11th safest city in Indiana.
