The City of Frankfort announced today, Jan. 31 that Frankfort Street Department Superintendent Jason Forsythe officially tendered his resignation as he moves toward a new position as the Director of Public Works for the Town of Whitestown.
Forsythe’s resignation will be effective Feb. 7, and his resignation is expected to be officially accepted by the Board of Public Works and Safety during their next meeting on Monday, Feb. 10.
Forsythe has served the City of Frankfort since April 2015, and during his tenure, he has become a valuable team member to the City, according to Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets and members of the Street Department.
“Jason brought several innovative ideas and infrastructure grants to better our City roadways during his time here,” Sheets said. “I appreciate his service to our community and will miss having be a part of my leadership team.”
Forsythe has led the department through numerous changes, including the move to an automated trash collection system that was focused on the improved safety of the Street Department staff and efficiency on collection days, acquisition of new equipment and much more. In recent years, Forsythe also served as the Interim Parks Superintendent for numerous months while the hiring process was ongoing.
Sheets stated that she is currently in the process of hiring an Interim Street Superintendent.
