Frankfort Volleyball Rallies to Down Rossville in Opener

After a slow start and 10 service errors in games one and two, the Frankfort High School girls’ volleyball team defeated Rossville 3-2 Tuesday night in their season opener in Rossville. Frankfort lost the first two games 25-21 and 25-9 before coming back to win the next three games 25-18, 25-19 and 15-13.

Senior captains Ashley Timmons and Chloe Roberts started off the season strong. Timmons had 16 kills and 11 digs, while Roberts added 11 kills and 11 digs. Junior Lindsey Gay led the offense with 33 assists and four kills, and Allyson Timmons had seven kills and three solo blocks, including the game that wrapped the victory in the fifth game.

Tarah Martinez had two kills, 21 digs and two aces for FHS. Freshman Maicee Sterrett had four aces and 18 digs, Kylie Norman had 11 digs and Morgan Adamson added six kills.

Up next for the Lady Hot Dogs is the Kokomo Invitational on Saturday before returning home August 27 to host North Montgomery.

Rossville is 0-2. The Hornets also lost 25-19, 25-18, 25-13 on the road to West Lafayette Monday night.

The FHS junior varsity team fell 2-0 to Rossville. Offensively, Eryka Stephenson led with four kills while Emma Pillion had five assists. Grace Campbell had three aces, while Sydni Whitaker and Stephenson each had two aces.

Clinton Prairie Falls to WEBO

Clinton Prairie dropped its season volleyball opener to Western Boone 3-0 Tuesday night in Dover. The Stars won all three games by scores of 25-3, 25-13 and 25-22.

Kylee Maish led Prairie with four kills. Jaylynn Glen and Lexi Collins each added two kills. Keyra Fisher led the team in digs with seven. Victoria Florenc and Gleb each had five digs and Maish added three digs. Gleb and Hannah Wilson led the team in aces with two each.

Prairie takes on North Montgomery Thursday at home.

The junior varsity fell to WEBO 25-16, 25-4. Maya Rominger and Grace Good led in kills with two apiece, Caydence Rios and Julia Stillwell each had a team-high six digs, while Kaylee Wall added a team-high three assists, two digs and one ace.

Clinton Central Wins Opener

Clinton Central won its season opener against Sheridan by a 3-1 count on Tuesday night. Central took the first two games by identical scores of 25-20 before losing game three 25-19. However, the Bulldogs won the match four with a 25-16 victory.

Next up for Central is action in the Elwood Tournament on Saturday with a noon contest against Tipton.
