Frankfort Water Works Issues Boil Water Advisory

Frankfort Water Works has issued a Boil Water Advisory for approximately 58 homes due to a water main valve replacement that is expected to take place today (Monday), weather permitting.

This boil water advisory applies only to homes on Ohio Street between Hoke and Fudge Avenue and select homes on Kelly Avenue. Individuals are being asked to boil their water before using. Bring tap water to a rolling boil for three minutes and cool before using…or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and preparing food until further notice.

Frankfort Water Works will be shutting off the water supply to make new water main connections. The water system will lose pressure due to this construction activity.  When water mains lose pressure, it increases the chance that untreated water and undesirable microbes can enter the water main. When the water pressure is restored, also on Monday, the water mains will be flushed and samples will be tested to insure the water is safe.

It is likely that you will need to boil water or use bottled water for drinking for two or more days.  You will be informed when tests show that you no longer need to boil your water.
