FHS Boys’ Basketball Drops Pair
Frankfort fell to 1-4 on the season after a 65-57 non-conference loss to Lewis Cass at Case Arena Saturday night.
Coach Nathan VanDuyne said the team played a sound first half going into the locker room with a 34-29 lead. Deacon Spencer, Riley Goodnight and Sam Michael did a great job coming in and getting the lead back despite foul trouble.
The second half was a different story as Cass outscored the Hot Dogs 36-23 in the second half as FHS struggled to make shots and gets stops.
Landen Mejia led Frankfort with 16 points. Trey Frazier was next with 15. VanDuyne added Jade Ayers brought great energy getting on the floor for loose balls.
Cass also won the junior varsity matchup 53-39.
On Friday night, Tri-West went on a late run and came away with a 65-55 Sagamore Conference victory.
VanDuyne said the team put forth an outstanding effort on the offensive and defensive end. The Dogs worked the ball around and found great shots all night offensively and defensively they were on the floor for loose ball, taking charges and finishing possessions with boxouts. FHS led in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t quite finish it off.
Ayers led the team in scoring with 13 points. Frazier was next with 12 followed by Mejia with 10, Goodnight had nine, Cameron Williams scored six and Braden Compton added five.
