Free Tax Help Available for Elderly, Low Income Filers

The AARP Tax Aide program is offering free assistance for low to moderate income and elderly taxpayers beginning February 6. Most returns are e-filed. All volunteers assisting with taxes must pass a test to be certified preparers.
Tax assistance is available in Harmony Hall at Wesley Manor on Wednesdays beginning February 6. Sessions at Wesley Manor will continue on Thursday February 7, Wednesday February 13, Thursday February 14 and each Wednesday through April 10 by appointment. Call 656-2111 to schedule an appointment between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Wesley Manor. Wesley Manor is located at 1555 N Main Street in Frankfort. Taxpayers should use the Health Care Pavilion Entrance on the Northeast part of the building.
Tax assistance is also available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursdays beginning February 21 and continuing through April 11 at the Frankfort Neighborhood
Center, 259 S Third Street in Frankfort.
Taxpayers should bring a picture ID, social security card or information verifying the social security number for each person on their tax return. Also, bring wage earnings (W-2’s), interest statements from banks, pension statements, last year’s tax returns, property tax statement, record of rent paid, and any other
information on expenses and income. Information to verify Health Insurance coverage should also be brought. Those who purchased health insurance through
the Marketplace must bring their form 1095A.
