Garnet Faye Snyder

Garnet Faye Snyder, 96, of Warsaw, Indiana, died Saturday, December 11, 2021. She was the daughter of Hoy and June (Kingery) Musselman and the devoted wife of Meredith Keith Snyder for over 50 years. Garnet is survived by a daughter, Janice Torrence and son-in-law, Tim, also of Warsaw, Indiana. Grandson Jason, wife Anna, and great-granddaughter, Helen, of Nashville, Tennessee.

Garnet was known for her love of life, lifelong love of poetry, and service to friends and family. She enjoyed sewing, oil painting, ceramics, cooking, entertaining, and creating personalized anthologies of favorite poems and quotations to present to friends. She was a role model to many people. One friend summed up her aspirations by saying, “When I grow up, I want to be a ‘Garnet’”.

Her married life began in DeLand, Florida during WWII. Ninety of her years were spent in Flora, Indiana. In 2017, she moved to Warsaw, Indiana to be nearer to family. During much of her time in Carroll County, she lived on a farm where she was an active participant, driving tractors and working alongside her husband. She served in a variety of capacities at Bachelor Run Church of the Brethren in Bringhurst, Indiana, and Methodist Churches in Flora, Indiana and Hollywood, Florida. Scores of children had the privilege of hearing her children’s stories at church.

Garnet’s passing leaves a void in many lives. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Genda Funeral Home ~ Reinke Chapel with Pastor Susan Peterson officiating.
