Crews making sidewalk improvements on Clay Street accidentally ruptured a gas line near a main service line Friday morning, causing the work to be halted while Vectren Gas and Frankfort firefighters address the situation.According to Street Superintendent Jason Forsythe, the specific area of activity is at the intersection of Brightwood Drive and Clay Street.
“We are asking motorists to avoid Clay Street between Alhambra Avenue and Harvard Terrace so crews on the scene can move as quickly and safely as possible to correct the problem,” Forsythe said.
The sidewalk work in the area currently is on hold.
