Genda Funeral Home Making Changes Due to COVID-19

Genda Funeral Home is making changes in the way it handles its funerals. The following is a letter from owner Mark Genda.

In collaboration with Goodwin and Archer-Weston funeral homes, the safety and health of our community and the families we serve is of the utmost importance. Each day new information from local, state, and federal agencies bring changes in how daily operations are handled. We continue to do our part and adhere to the recommendations that are made to help slow the transmission of Covid-19 virus.

With that being said, Genda Funeral Home will also be requiring private family services restricted to immediate family. We will guide your family in creative and innovative ways to work through these difficult times, yet still honor and celebrate your loved one in a way respectful and worthy of the life they lived. We will continue to offer webcasts for families so others may be able to share in the services if the family desires to do so.

For those that would like to offer support and condolences to the families, we still offer online condolences on our website, we are happy to coordinate with florists to get floral arrangements to the family, we will also pass on hand written notes and cards that are sent to the funeral home for the family.

While we understand we all need to grieve the lost of our families and friends, the current situation is forcing us to come together as a community and unite to show love and support more creatively so we make keep each other safe.

As a staff we will continue to answer the phones 24 hours a day and be there when you need us. We request for your safety and the safety as others you practice the safety measures set forth by the CDC and government officials. If you would like to meet with us in person, know that while we normally greet you with a hug or handshake, we will be taking precautions with hand sanitizing areas and practicing social distancing for your health and ours.

These days have presented us all with daily hurdles, and adding the loss of a loved one to this already difficult time can be confusing and disheartening. We are here to care for your family as you are OUR family. We will continue to put families first and strive to serve the communities of Frankfort, Rossville, Mulberry and Flora the best of our abilities, even as things continue to evolve. Know that any changes made from this point forward are for the continued safety of you, your loved ones, and our community.

Thank you for all that continue to reach out to us to help care for our current families who have experience a loss recently, and respecting the current status and rules we have had to implement at this time. As the world is working through this together, we hope we can all love and support each other in whatever ways are best for each other. Times may not be easy, but if we all keep doing our best, praying for guidance, following the recommendations, and believing that things will get better, we can come out stronger and more unified than before. So please, be safe, be kind, and be optimistic.
