George R. Daupert

Mr. George Robert Daupert, 87, of Lebanon, Indiana passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Born August 12, 1936, in Boone County, Indiana to the late George and Mildred P (Belcher) Daupert, George was one of four siblings. He was preceded in death by his brother William Daupert and his sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Jerry Seymour. George was a 1954 graduate of Perry Central High School. Always a classic jokester, George was proud to proclaim himself a top ten graduate in his graduating class of nine. Shortly after graduation, George met the love of his life, Hazel “Jackie” (Lakes) Daupert. The two were married on July 22, 1956, enjoying 68 years full of love and laughter.

George joined the United States Army where he served his country honorably. In 1961, George cultivated his entrepreneurial spirit, starting his own mowing business, which would serve as a family pillar for years to come. Continued to this day by his grandson Rodney, and son in law, Rex, George employed his grandchildren and other young men in the community, teaching them invaluable life lessons along the way.

Following his time in the army, George continued to serve his community, becoming a firefighter for the Lebanon Fire Department, serving over 20 years. After leaving Lebanon Fire, George proudly served as Fire Chief for Center Township Fire Department for nine years before ultimately retiring. After retiring, he enjoyed working as a security guard at the Lebanon Public Library for 22 years. Among his many talents, George was a world class ping pong player, winning several fourth of July tournaments over the years. Further lending to his uncanny hand eye coordination, George was an avid marksman, a sharpshooter comparable to the characters he enjoyed watching in all his favorite westerns. He is lovingly remembered by his family as a joyous light, always offering a supportive word and positive life outlook. His family remained the greatest joy of his life, leaving a legacy of love that will continue to transcend generations to come. George is survived by his wife Jackie, son Bob (Vickie) Daupert of Lebanon, daughter Tammy (Rex) Princell of Lebanon, son Tim (Candy) Daupert of Columbus, Indiana, grandchildren Rodney (Ashley) Princell, Derek (Jessica) Princell, Ariel (Calvin) Grieshaber, Abby (Allen) Oberbroeckling, Delayne Daupert, Erica (Zach) Snow, Lindsay (Matt) Kaufman, 15 great grandchildren, brother Richard (Patricia) Daupert of Lebanan, sister-in-law Marilyn Daupert of Paulden, Arizona, and several nieces and nephews.
