Gillman Home Center Plans Acquisition of Kramer Lumber

Gillman Home Center, headquartered in Batesville, has agreed to purchase Kramer Lumber, with locations in Frankfort and Lebanon, Indiana. Owned and operated by the Ransom family, Kramer Lumber is one of the oldest lumber yards in Indiana, dating back to 1872.

“We are excited to serve the communities of Frankfort and Lebanon,” said Charlie Gillman, founder and CEO of Gillman Home Center. “We intend to continue in the tradition of friendly, small town customer service.”  “Jack, Tom and Mark Ransom have built a great local business and my family and I couldn’t be more excited to take over the reins, grow the business, and be a part of these wonderful communities.”

Customers should expect some changes and improvement to the merchandise selections, consistent with other Gillman Home Center locations.  One change customers will notice is longer hours.  All Gillman stores are open seven days per week.  Gillman’s will open the store at 7 am on week days, and be open later evening hours.  Gillman’s does plan on retaining the current staff at both stores.

“At Gillman’s, we not only stock the everyday lumber and building materials you would expect from a home center. We also like to think we have everything you need to build and maintain your home.” said Curtis Gillman, Chief Operations Officer. “We pride ourselves in tailoring our merchandising to suit the needs and tastes of our local communities and plan to do just that at the Frankfort and Lebanon locations.”

The acquisition of Kramer lumber will bring the total Gillman Home Center Stores to 12. The Gillman family will take ownership on or around August 1.

About Gillman Home Center

Gillman Home Center is owned by Charlie and Curtis Gillman, and headquartered in Batesville IN.

In 1962, Carl Gillman founded Gillman Brother’s Lumber to service the community of Brookville and his own construction company. That small lumber yard ignited an interest in retail and building materials in one of Carl’s 10 children – Charlie.

Charlie continued to work in custom home building for many years before deciding to focus solely on retail and serving other contractors. Carl passed in 2015 and his passion for excellence in retailing and serving the community lives on with his son and grandsons.

Gillman Home Centers is a full-service hardware and lumber dealer with locations in Batesville, Brookville, Connersville, Oxford (Ohio), Eaton (Ohio), Edinburgh, Centerville, Winchester, New Castle, Aurora, and now Frankfort and Lebanon. Gillman’s was founded in 1980 by Charlie Gillman, a second-generation homebuilder who still runs the company today with his sons and 240 team members.
