During the Women’s Expo on March 16, the Frankfort Community Public Library (FCPL) will show a slide presentation in Harry’s Coffee Bar of 1950s Girl Scout pictures taken by James Ostler. If you recognize anyone pictured, the library will have a staff member available to write down the names of those identified.
As a part of the Clinton County: Fun in the ’50s project funded by a Library Services and Technology Act grant, FCPL has digitized nearly 2,400 slides taken at Scouting activities. Approximately 2,000 of those slides were taken at Girl Scout activities.
This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Indiana State Library. The IMLS is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 123,000 libraries and 35,000 museums. Its mission is to inspire libraries and museums to advance innovation, lifelong learning, and cultural and civic engagement.
The Women’s Expo is March 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Frankfort Community Public Library. All are welcome to attend, not just women! Shop from over 30 women-owned businesses and view artwork by Rosa Maria Dies and Becky Heimann in the Anna & Harlan Hubbard Gallery. We will have speakers throughout the day in the Skanta Theatre.
