Give Thanks to the Doctors in Your Life

Dr. Raymond V. Ingham, President/CEO of Witham Health Services announced that March 30 is National Doctor’s Day. As the Coronavirus continues in our community it’s important to recognize the hard work and dedication that our physicians demonstrate in our hospitals and communities every day.

Doctor’s Day was first observed on March 30, 1933 in Winder, Georgia.  Dr. Charles B. Almond’s wife, Eudora Brown Almond, wanted to honor her husband and all physicians by mailing greeting cards to doctors and placing red carnations at the grave sites of deceased doctors. March 30 was selected because it was the first anniversary of a doctor using ether anesthesia. Today we continue to celebrate medical advances and thank all doctors everywhere who’ve spent so much time and energy mastering their field of expertise. On Feb. 21, 1991, President George H.W. Bush proclaimed National Doctor’s Day to honor the Nation’s physicians for their dedication and leadership.

Doctor’s Day has been observed to give people an opportunity to show their appreciation for physicians who do more than just save lives every day. It is a day to honor physicians for the work they do for their patients, the communities they work in and for society as a whole. Doctors relieve more than just physical pain. They diagnose our everyday illnesses, but they also address our fears, our loneliness, and anxieties. They offer valuable advice to not only help us physically but mentally too. By listening to them, they help us survive and thrive. Healthcare today is more complex than ever. With more advancements, tools and information at their fingertips, doctors have an overwhelming job to diagnose and treat their patients. Regardless of their specialty, during this pandemic it has brought unique challenges to our doctors requiring sacrifice, dedication and compassion.

At Witham Health Services our doctors have been serving the residents of Boone and surrounding counties for over 105 years.  With their leadership, Witham Health Services has become a progressive, modern health care provider. We are able to offer many of the medical services people need throughout their lifetime, right here, close to home. Whatever your health care needs are in the future, you won’t have to travel far for quality care. Witham has offices in Crawfordsville, Frankfort, Jamestown, Lebanon, Thorntown, Whitestown at Anson and Zionsville.

“With our physicians, and advanced equipment and procedures, you can count on exceptional care in friendly, familiar surroundings with your family and friends nearby. If you’re hospitalized, your treatment will be managed by a physician you know and trust, one that takes pride in providing high quality care with a caring touch”, said Dr. Ingham.

At Witham Health Services we are proud to honor our doctors on this special day and thank them and all doctors for their dedication to the health of our community.  Please take a moment to thank a doctor for all they do.
