Gladys Pauline Chumley

Gladys Pauline Chumley, 88, of Mulberry, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Creasy Springs in Lafayette. She was born June 6, 1930, in Claiborne County, Tenn., to Henry and Vina (Massengill) Fultz.  On April 28, 1952, Pauline married William L. Chumley; he passed away on September 10, 2010.

Pauline was baptized and saved at Blair’s Creek Baptist Church in Tazewell, Tenn., during a revival in her youth.  Known to everyone as “Grandma,” Pauline was the “Community Grandma” who treated everyone as her own grandkid.  She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be greatly missed.  Pauline also enjoyed camping and fishing with William and the grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Gary (Paula) Chumley, of Mulberry, and Sue (Jim) Wilson, of Monticello; her grandchildren, Melissa (James) Davis, Tosha (Jason)Chapman, Mendy S. (Mark) Helmrick, Molly (Josh) Dowell, Neal Lewis Chumley, Jack Chumley, and Gary Lee Chumley; 15 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mary Bolden.

In addition to her husband, Pauline is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Earl and Marshall; sisters, Dolly, Lula, Allie, Minnie, and Jeanette; and her sister-in-law, Carrie Fultz.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018, at Genda Funeral Home Mulberry Chapel from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.  Funeral service to honor Pauline will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at the funeral home with Pastor Ross Terry officiating.  Burial will follow in Fair Haven Cemetery.  Memorials in Pauline’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
